Altos Las Hormigas Malbec

Mendoza Argentina 2007
Wine of the week, March 14, 2009
label

What to expect: Malbec (Mahl behk) is one of the original Bordeaux grapes and was brought to Argentina from France in the late 19th century. In Argentina it found a fantastic home. Expect fresh blackberry, blackberry jam, fresh blueberry, blueberry sauce, cocoa powder, full body, full flavor and a noticeable dusty note. The fruitiness of Malbec has a very friendly nature and the weight is flattered by Argentina's favorite food, beef. Grilled red meats of all kinds are a great pairing as well as rich textures like whipped potatoes.
