Poliziano Rosso di Montepulciano
(Sangiovese/Merlot)
Tuscany 2006
Wine of the week, March 28, 2009
Expectations: This is a wine filled with red berries, with some blueberry and blackberry. 80% Sangiovese brings the red currant, red cherry, and the rose petal, while the 20% brings the darker fruit. There is an undertone of vanilla and baking spice from the 8 months of age in oak barrels.
Expect a nearly full-bodied wine that really
blossoms with a bit of grilled red meat
or even a pasta dish with bolognese.
est. retail price per bottle: $18
